Talk About Your Family
A great way to build rapport with your audience is to tell some humorous
stories about your family. This can build a connection with your audience, which
you will learn how to do in my public speaking course.
Most audience members get the "warm fuzzies" when you
mention your spouse or kids in a positive light. Family evokes feelings
of joy and happiness in most people.
Of course, you do run the risk that a few people in the audience may
not like their spouse after a big argument or a divorce, or kids for
reasons related to rebellion or rejection. But most folks do like to
hear positive family stories, even when their family might not be so
