Public Speaking Course:

Talk About Your Family

A great way to build rapport with your audience is to tell some humorous stories about your family. This can build a connection with your audience, which you will learn how to do in my public speaking course.

Most audience members get the "warm fuzzies" when you mention your spouse or kids in a positive light. Family evokes feelings of joy and happiness in most people.

Of course, you do run the risk that a few people in the audience may not like their spouse after a big argument or a divorce, or kids for reasons related to rebellion or rejection. But most folks do like to hear positive family stories, even when their family might not be so positive at the time.

Generally the benefits of talking about your family far outweigh the risks.
